“I get the invitation every morning when I wake up to actually live a life on complete engagement, a life of whimsy, a life where love does. It does not come in an envelope. It’s ushered in by a sunrise, the sound of the bird, or the smell of coffee drifting lazily from the kitchen. It’s the invitation to actually live, to fully participate in this amazing life for one more day.”
– Bob Goff
I’ve been reading a lot of books lately,
excluding textbooks for school of course.
I just finished reading Bob Goff’s book, Love Does. It is a recollection of Bob’s experiences in life, his testimony, and how God changed and brought adventure and excitement in his life every single day. The book isn’t structured as one whole novel, but a collection of short stories that could be read in one sitting or taken one story at a time. As a busy student, I read through this book in three long sittings, enjoying every single story.
Bob’s stories made me laugh, smile and think about Godly things. He recollects his childhood, his amazing adventure of how he entered law school and how his met his wife to name a few. I love how dreamlike his life is, a life full of comedy, a life full of learning and ultimately a life full of God.
One of the points he brought up living a life of complete engagement (refer to the quote above). How many people live and wake up everyday just for the sake of living and waking up everyday? How many people live their lives aimlessly, thinking that there is no purpose for their lives?
Sadly, there are too many people living this way.
Everyday, when we wake up, we make a decision. Whether this day will be good or bad, whether this day will be God centered or self centered, whether this day will be a day full of whimsy or a day full of dread. This decision will set our perspective, our attitude and our behavior. This will guide you with every other decision throughout the day.
Will you accept this invitation to the whimsy?
